Man charged with rape and assault of woman in MS

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – A man was arrested earlier this week for allegedly raping and assaulting a woman in Lafayette County, Mississippi.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office reportedly received a call from County Road around 5 p.m. on Sunday. The caller said a bleeding woman was at his door.

The victim reportedly stated that she was attacked and raped. When she was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital, she identified the suspect.

James Colton, 58, was charged with rape and assault and was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center and booked there.

Colton was issued a $100,000 bond.
