Minister questions school exclusion rate

At Ballakermeen High School, 13 percent of students were suspended.

Why are three times as many students suspended at a school in Douglas as at a school in the west?

This week, Education Secretary Daphne Caine was questioned about suspension rates at the Tynwald Institute. She said the rate on the island was higher than in England or Scotland.

Rushen MHK Michelle Heywood pointed out that QEII School in Peel has suspended four per cent of its students, compared to 13 per cent in Ballakermeen.
