Cargill opens office in Atlanta and hires 400 technicians

Cargill is opening an office in Atlanta to house its digital technology and data operations and plans to hire 400 technology professionals in the coming years.

The Minnetonka-based company chose Georgia’s capital city for its reputation as a “booming technology hub, known for its diverse and talented workforce, proximity to leading academic institutions and growing corporate presence food and agriculture,” according to a press release.

“Employees working at this facility will help create digital solutions that power our global food supply chain, harness analytics and artificial intelligence to open new markets, and drive technical innovation to make our food system more sustainable and accessible,” said Jennifer Hartsock, chief information and digital officer. said Tuesday.

Southern states are among the top broiler producers in the United States, and several of Cargill’s technology companies are tied to the poultry industry.

The company’s BinSentry sensors can provide live monitoring of food, while Birdoo can offer visual weight estimates, which can reduce costs and improve efficiency for farmers. Cargill also offers products that help manage livestock feedlots with drones and software to optimize pig nutrition.

“With a new office center in Atlanta, Cargill will be able to harness the immense potential of digital technology to advance our business,” CEO Brian Sikes said in a statement.

The Atlanta hub is expected to open this fall.
