National Police K-9 Memorial Ceremony honoring fallen K-9s during Police Week

By Police1 staff

WASHINGTON – In an annual tribute to their service and sacrifice, the National Police Dog Foundation is set as a host for the National Police K-9 Memorial Ceremony while National Police Week on May 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. EST. The ceremony, which is open to the public, will take place at National Police Officers Memorial in Washington, DC

There will be a wreath and rose laying ceremony to honor the fallen K-9 police troopers who gave their lives in the line of duty over the past year. This event serves as a powerful reminder of the brave K-9s who serve as the first line of defense alongside their human counterparts in law enforcement.

To meet the ongoing needs of law enforcement, the National Police Dog Foundation created the K9 Memorial Fund in 2018. This fund plays a critical role in supporting departments that lack the necessary resources to replace their fallen K-9s.

As part of our ongoing commitment to our heroes, Police1 will be reporting live from the heart of Washington, DC during National Police Week this year. Visit our coverage of National Police Week for real-time updates, live reporting and exclusive content all week long.
