Shooting in Chicago: 13-year-old boy shot in the head on South Independence Boulevard in Lawndale, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) — A 13-year-old boy was shot dead on Chicago’s West Side on Friday night.

According to police, the teenager was standing on a sidewalk on South Independence Boulevard near West 13th Street around 8:30 p.m. when he was shot in the head.

The teenager was taken to hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police say the shooter was a man who managed to get away. No arrests have been made. Chicago police are continuing to investigate.
