Woman attacked on Wakefield Street – NBC New York

Authorities are searching for a 45-year-old man who was caught on video grabbing a 26-year-old woman from behind as she walked down a Bronx street, violently throwing her to the ground and attempting to rape her.

The woman was walking near Vireo Avenue and East 235th Street around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, when a man grabbed her in a chokehold, according to police. The man forced her to the ground and wrestled with the woman for a while, a video shows. She was eventually able to free herself from him by screaming for help.

The suspect, later identified as Miguel Rivera, was last seen driving away on a blue scooter.

The victim suffered cuts and bruises and refused medical treatment at the scene.

Police released surveillance images of Rivera (above).
