LMPD: 4 people arrested after allegedly beating a blind man and stealing his belongings

According to LMPD, the victim was beaten “pretty badly.” He was taken to UofL Hospital for further treatment.

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Four people were arrested after allegedly beating a blind man and stealing his belongings.

On June 8, the Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) were dispatched to the area of ​​40th and Hale for a report of a car theft.

According to a police report, the victim told officers that he was driven from Radcliff to Louisville by an acquaintance who was also driving his truck because he was completely blind.

He explained to officers that they encountered a woman and two men. Once they were all together, one of the men, Deshawn Cleavor, gave them all a ride in the truck. The victim said that one of the men said something about his phone falling under a seat, at which point Cleavor pulled over to the side of the road.

According to court documents, Cleavor allegedly pulled the victim out of the truck, punched and kicked him, and took his phone and wallet before driving away in the truck, leaving the victim on the side of the road.

According to LMPD, the victim was beaten “pretty badly.” Police said he was taken to UofL Hospital for treatment.

The investigation revealed that the stolen vehicle was parked behind the Budgetel Inn, 3304 Bardstown Road.

According to police reports, surveillance footage showed Stephon Cleavor, Deshawn Cleavor, Louis Jones and Misty Slater entering a room at the hotel. The LMPD SWAT team abducted the suspects without further incident.

All four were arrested and charged with first degree robbery.

“Kudos to the 2nd Division Patrol and Criminal Investigation Unit, the SWAT Team and the 6th Division Impact Unit for their cooperation in apprehending these suspected violent offenders and bringing them home from the streets!” said a post by the LMPD on Facebook.
