Beaumont resident arrested for drunk driving after colliding with BPD patrol car | Texas

BEAUMONT, Texas — On Friday evening, a Beaumont resident was arrested for drunk driving after colliding with two police patrol cars.

On June 7, 2024 at 10:12 p.m., two Beaumont Police Department (BPD) patrol units were parked in the 2200 block of Ave C with their flashing lights on. These lights, which are yellow flashing indicators on the back of the emergency light bar, were on when officers responded to a call from a nearby residence. A southbound vehicle collided with the rear of the first police unit, pushing it into the second unit.

Following the investigation of the accident, the driver, Jamie Castillo, a 41-year-old Beaumont resident, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation and then booked into the Jefferson County Jail. No officers were injured in the incident.
