Lowcountry police pay tribute to fallen officers

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Police officers in the Lowcountry will host their annual Fallen Officers Memorial Service on Wednesday to honor those who died in the line of duty.

According to authorities, the SC Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 3 is hosting the memorial service to support the families left behind and their law enforcement colleagues.

During the ceremony, all names will be read, including the names of the K-9 officers, followed by a 21-gun salute to conclude the ceremony.

“I am honored to speak on behalf of the other local FOP Lodge Presidents and their members when I say that while this memorial service is important, it cannot bring these outstanding officers back to us, we are making the time “We can remember them and their sacrifice,” said John Blackmon, current State Lodge president and local president of Tri-County Lodge 3.

The service includes officers from Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton and Dorchester counties from 1878 to the present.

The service will be held at Mount Pleasant Town Hall beginning at 11 a.m
