Downtown Madison shooting under investigation – The Badger Herald

According to a Madison police officer, a shooting occurred at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday at the Lux Apartment building at 433 W Johnson St. Incident report.

This is an active investigation led by MPD’s Violent Crimes Unit and no arrests have been made.

Officers were alerted to a commotion on the roof of the building when they were informed of gunshots. Dozens of people had fled the building when officers arrived.

BadgerSafe alerts began at 1 a.m., warning students to avoid the area. The alerts lasted until 4:21 a.m., when students were advised to be cautious and monitor local media for updates.

The MPD cordoned off Johnson Street and surrounding areas early Sunday to investigate the incident.

At least ten people, aged between 14 and 23, were injured, although not all with gunshot wounds. Some are being treated at local hospitals, but none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.
