A man was arrested on drug charges in Houghton County following a theft investigation

HOUGHTON COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) – A man is in the Houghton County Jail after being arrested on drug charges.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office says they began investigating a theft report at the Copper County Mall in Portage Township in April of this year.

On Tuesday, officers obtained a search warrant and searched an apartment on Quincy Street in Hancock. During the search, officers located a large quantity of stolen retail items from numerous businesses in Houghton and Portage Township. Officers also found a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine and other evidence of drug distribution.

The investigation is ongoing and the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office will file additional charges. The man’s name has not been released.
