NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio (WJW) – Support continues to grow for the victims of a random attack and stabbing in a local Giant Eagle parking lot.

A GoFundMe account set up to support the Wood family has raised more than $170,000 as of Thursday morning.

The scene occurred on Monday, June 3, in broad daylight.

Officials said around 3 p.m., a mother and her young son had finished shopping and were walking back to their car in front of the Giant Eagle in North Olmsted when a woman dressed all in black approached them with a kitchen knife and stabbed them both.

Officials later said 3-year-old Julian Wood of North Olmsted died at the hospital and the child’s 38-year-old mother, Margot Wood, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Relatives who set up the GoFundMe page for the family wrote: “Many of you have been following this horrific story online and asking what happened and how something like this could happen in our own neighborhood. Honestly, we have no explanation for how or why this happened…”

The post sheds light on the young victim’s “wild” personality and says he leaves behind a big brother and little sister.

According to police, the three-year-old was stabbed in the face and back. His mother was stabbed in the shoulder. Police said the attack lasted only a few seconds.

“This is going to be an incredibly long road to recovery, but honestly we will never recover from this – but we will continue to tell stories about our beautiful little boy, his laugh, his mischievous smile, his wild ways, his love of dinosaurs, his love of school, his obsession with his new little sister and his wrestling with his big brother at every opportunity… and all the other beautiful things about this sweet little boy,” the post read.

The suspect in the case is Bionca Ellis, 32, of Cleveland. She was quickly arrested and then on Wednesday she was indicted by a grand jury on charges of murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and more.

According to the police report, Ellis was observed on surveillance video entering the grocery store immediately after purchasing the kitchen knife at a nearby store. She passed Margot and Julian Wood and then followed them back to their car.

She is due to appear in court again on June 10 for arraignment.

Meanwhile, supporters of the Wood family wrote: “Please continue to pray for our family, for Margot, baby Julian, Jared, his grandmother, brother and sister, and pray that justice is done for our family.”

“This is something no person, no family, no mother, no father, no grandmother should ever have to experience. We urge you all to hold your babies tightly. This should never have happened,” the post said.
