Man arrested after raping women in train toilet in Southeast

A man has been arrested after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted and raped on board a train in the South East.

The woman was on board a train traveling between St Leonard’s Warrior Square and Wadhurst at 11pm on April 22.

Before the incident, the victim had struck up a conversation with two men – one of whom had gotten off the train before the alleged attack.

The victim then said the second man, 44, sexually assaulted her in the train toilet.

It is not believed the victim and the two men previously knew each other.

Detective Constable Gemma Littlewood, from British Transport Police’s Serious, Serious and Organized Crime Unit, said: “This was a shocking and disturbing incident that happened to a young woman who is now receiving specialist support from our officers.”

“Fortunately, we do not want to identify anyone in this connection, but our investigations are continuing quickly.

“I would urge anyone with information, particularly those known to have been in the area at the time of the incident, to contact us as they may have information that may be of use to ours Investigations could be crucial.”

Officers are particularly keen to speak to the other man, who was on the train shortly before the incident, to assist them in their investigation.

He is described as a white man in his 50s, medium build and with a close-shaven haircut. He was wearing a dark sweater, gray pants and brown shoes.

They would also like to speak with two other women who were seen at the same service.

They were sitting on a table and were approached by the man shortly after the incident.
