Two children taken to Syracuse hospital after accident near Southwick Beach State Park | Jefferson County News

He failed to notice a 2018 Ford traveling north on Route 3 driven by Dean F. Wheeler, 56, Mannsville, resulting in a T-bone collision, according to police.

A 2022 Toyota driven by Cindy L. Rainbow-Altman, 59, of Baldwinsville, was struck by the Wheeler vehicle in the first collision.

A 1-year-old passenger in the Muniz-Colon vehicle was taken by ambulance to Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, and a 6-year-old passenger in the vehicle was taken by helicopter to the same hospital. Troopers did not disclose the nature of the children’s injuries, but said they were not life-threatening.

Muniz-Colon was found to have committed traffic violations on the spot because he had failed to yield the right of way at an intersection and a passenger aged between four and six was riding in the back seat without or with an unsuitable restraint system.

State police said the investigation is ongoing.
