Man killed in downtown Sacramento robbery identified as bail bondsman

A man killed in an attack in downtown Sacramento early Monday has been identified as 56-year-old Kevin Brace, police said. Brace was a longtime employee of Greg Padilla Bail Bonds, which is based in the area where the attack occurred on I Street. Police said 38-year-old Jacob Mandell of Sacramento was arrested on manslaughter charges in connection with Brace’s death. Police said they responded to reports of the attack in the 500 block of I Street around 4:15 a.m. Officers and later Sacramento Fire Department personnel performed life-saving measures on Brace, but he died at the scene. Police said investigators are working to determine the motive for the attack. A man killed in an attack in downtown Sacramento early Monday has been identified as 56-year-old Kevin Brace, police said.

Brace was a longtime associate of the law firm Greg Padilla Bail Bonds, which is located in the I Street area where the attack occurred.

Police said 38-year-old Jacob Mandell of Sacramento was arrested on murder charges in connection with Brace’s death.

Police said they responded to reports of the attack in the 500 block of I Street around 4:15 a.m.

Officers and later members of the Sacramento Fire Department performed life-saving measures on Brace, but he died at the scene.

Mandell is expected in court on Wednesday.
