CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago police said Tuesday that a man who was shot during a street takeover in the city’s southwest area over the weekend was caught in the chaos and was trying to get out.

Investigators said the 20-year-old victim was in a black Honda Accord on 59th Street near Western Avenue – on the border of the Gage Park and Chicago Lawn neighborhoods – when the street takeover was underway.

He tried to drive away from the intersection when someone fired several shots, police said.

The Citizen app video captured the incident and its consequences.

Chicago police investigators are asking anyone with additional photos or videos to call.
