Reed City Police Investigate Donut Vending Vehicle

REED CITY – Officers with the Reed City Police Department responded to the following calls from May 20-26. This is part of a report filed by the RCPD and compiled by Deputy Editor Julie Norwood. Not all calls may be reported.

An officer took a report of a vehicle doing donuts in Westerburg Park, driving recklessly and kicking up gravel. Police have identified the individual and have taken action.

An officer took two reports of theft from a vehicle. The police identified a suspect and referred the case to the district attorney.

An officer took a report of two teenagers riding mopeds spinning their tires in the gravel parking lot of Westerburg Park. Police issued a warning to both teenagers and informed them that if another incident occurred, they would be charged with criminal damage.

An officer took a report of a suspicious vehicle that was frequently seen in the area around the schools. After investigation, police determined that the individual was not a suspect and that he had a disabled friend that he frequently checked on in the area.

An officer arrested and deported a 31-year-old woman on an outstanding warrant for contempt of court.

An officer responded to a 911 call with an open line. The officer found a phone in the street that had fallen from a vehicle and called 911 based on accident detection. The phone was returned to its owner.

An officer served the homeowners with six notices to remove overgrown grass.

An officer was called to the hospital regarding a victim of sexual assault. After investigation, the officer determined that the case was outside of the jurisdictional boundaries and referred it to the appropriate authority.

An officer took a report of alleged threats over money owed. Police made contact and asked both parties to refrain from further contact.

An officer assisted Child Protective Services in locating a toddler who was temporarily in the care of his aunt, who refused to release him to child welfare services. Police found the toddler and placed him in foster care.

An officer responded to a report of a young girl pushing a stroller on the side of the road. Due to her stature and youthful appearance, officers frequently receive calls regarding this woman. The woman and child in the stroller were in no danger.

An officer rushed to an apartment complex where a woman was lying on the grass while her toddler was playing nearby. The caller feared the mother might be unconscious or have a medical issue. Upon arrival, police found nothing was wrong with either the mother or the child.

Officers arrested a 26-year-old man and transported him from the Kent County Jail to the Osceola County Jail on a warrant for failure to appear in court.

As a preventative and prudent measure, an officer assisted security at Corewell Health Reed City Hospital after a gunshot victim was brought in from Lake County. After determining that it was unlikely that there would be any danger or disturbance, the officer resumed normal duties.

An officer was asked to assist medical personnel in entering the residence of a person who had fallen and required assistance.
