Missing woman found dead in Churchill County; it is being treated as a homicide

YERINGTON, Nev. (KOLO) – A woman reported missing to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office on April 15 was found dead in remote Churchill County on May 22, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the body was that of 25-year-old Sara Arlene Filiatraut of Michigan.

The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but it is suspected to be homicide.

Filiatraut was last seen in Yerington on March 21. The LCSO began searching for her after she was reported missing but was unable to locate her.

The LCSO did not provide any further information about where the body was found.
