Man suspected of attempting to sexually abuse child in Colorado Springs again; other potential victims sought

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – Police in Colorado Springs are searching for more potential victims as a man is suspected of attempting to sexually abuse a child at least a second time.

The suspect, Deangelo Terry, is believed to have a history of incidents involving children. On Tuesday, Colorado Springs police said they responded to a report of a sexual assault on a child on May 16 in the 300 block of N. Tejon St. The suspect allegedly approached a juvenile from behind and made “inappropriate contact” with the victim before running away.

Although 11 News has an old mugshot of Terry from the 2023 case, we have chosen not to publish it because the description of the suspect in the most recent case is very different from Terry’s appearance in the past.

“The suspect was identified as 24-year-old Deangelo Terry. Investigators knew Mr. Terry as he had previously been arrested in February 2023 for attempted sexual assault of a child. On May 24, 2024, detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit took Mr. Terry into custody without incident,” police wrote in a news release. “This investigation is ongoing and CSPD investigators are actively seeking additional information. This includes any possible unreported incidents in which a light-skinned black male, approximately 6’2″ tall, 150 pounds, with shaved hair, dark beard, and brown eyes, approached women, made unwanted advances, or exposed himself in and around downtown Colorado Springs.”
