Due to Sergio Perez’s accident at the 2024 Monaco F1 GP, the team loses 48 billion IDR

JAKARTA: Sergio Perez’s accident at the 2024 Monaco Formula One Grand Prix cost the Red Bull team up to $3 million or Rp48 billion.

The 2024 Monaco F1 Grand Prix took place at the Circuit de Monaco on Sunday, May 26, 2024. The accident involving Perez occurred just moments after the start of the race.

Red Bull’s advisor Helmut Marko said Sergio Perez’s accident had forced the team to make very high expenses.

“It will cost about two to three million (US dollars) and the budget limit will of course be a big obstacle,” Marko told Sky Sport Deutschland, citing Crash.

Perez was involved in an accident with the Haas driver duo Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hülkenberg. All three were unable to continue the race afterwards.

The unfortunate incident occurred when Magnussen tried to overtake Perez at Turn 1, but both collided.

As a result of the collision, Perez’s car ended up in the path of Nico Hülkenberg’s Haas. Of the three, Perez’s car was the most damaged.

“Thank God it turned out well, but it was a critical situation. However, I was surprised how quickly the officers solved this problem,” said Marko.

In addition to the loss of money, this poor weekend reduced Red Bull’s lead over Ferrari in the constructors’ championship to just 24 points.

However, the team was lucky that their driver Perez, who is currently fifth in the drivers’ standings, was not seriously injured.
