Memorial Day Weekend Events Honor WNY Veterans

Veterans organizations across Western New York will honor America’s veterans this Memorial Day weekend.

Monday morning, the Erie County American Legion will host a ceremony at the American Legion Monument just at the Main Street entrance to Forest Lawn Cemetery beginning at 9 a.m.

Monday afternoon, the Town of Amherst Veterans Committee will hold its Memorial Day ceremony at the Williamsville Cemetery at 1 p.m.

Ceremonies will include playing Taps and planting American flags on veterans’ graves.

Lackawanna also held an annual Memorial Day ceremony Sunday morning to honor and remember the city’s military heroes.

This year’s event is hosted by American Legion Post 63.
