Houston Food Bank Needs Volunteers | Form an ocean to another

WHAT: Volunteers are essential to the operations of the Houston Food Bank and are needed now more than ever. The Houston Food Bank is a resource for individuals and families in times of hardship and is called upon during disasters. We are currently supporting relief efforts in the Greater Houston area, which was impacted by the recent Derecho storm and tornadoes, and so we need additional help sorting and packing products for delivery into the community – including designated cooling centers – !

WHEN: Individuals – including children – as well as groups are invited to volunteer, and registration can be done online for one or more shifts: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Saturday; 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Friday; and from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday. There is a significant need for volunteers during shifts from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Activities include sorting and packaging non-perishable food and cleaning supplies; repackage dry foods into family-sized bags; and packing hot meals in our commercial kitchen.
