POLICE: East Texas woman hospitalized for smoke inhalation, arrested on arson charges after setting her boyfriend’s clothes on fire

TYLER, Texas – The Tyler Fire Marshal’s Office says a woman was arrested after she was hospitalized for smoke inhalation following a report of an arson Friday night.

According to authorities, a fire was reported on May 10 at an apartment complex at 5207 Hollytree Dr. reported.

An investigation into the fire revealed that the fire was started in the unit’s closet.

An inmate, identified as Talyson Hengel, was taken to a local hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation. Officials say Hengel admitted to starting the fire by lighting a pile of her boyfriend’s clothes in the corner of the closet.

After being treated, she was arrested for arson and taken to the Smith County Jail on $100,000 bail.
