The court heard the victim lived with his parents in a three-bedroom apartment.

Since childhood, the victim occasionally sleeps in her parents’ master bedroom as there is no air conditioning in her bedroom.

The victim’s mother was often unemployed during the day. Since his father has more flexible working hours, he is often alone with her in the apartment in Singapore.

The abuse began in December 2007. The victim was sleeping in the master bedroom when her father woke her up and sexually abused her for 15 minutes.

Then he told her not to tell anyone what happened and got to work.

Deputy public prosecutors Sheldon Lim and Ng Yiwen said this was the first case of years-long abuse.

In January 2008, this father’s behavior escalated and raped his daughter for the first time while her mother was at work.

He continued to sexually harass her from 2008 until August 2020, when she was 21. The man also showed her pornography.

The victim clearly refused. She tries to stop her father’s abuse, but doesn’t know how.

“She felt confused, lost and helpless because on the one hand he was afraid of the defendant because of his anger and did not want his parents to get a divorce, but on the other hand he was sexually exploiting her and she was ashamed and angry. “, said the prosecutor.
