Temple Police mourn police dog who died of health issues – NBC10 Philadelphia

Officials with the Temple University Police Department said they were mourning the loss of a longtime companion as a police dog that served the department for nearly a decade died Sunday.

According to police officials, Chandler, a 10-year-old German Shepherd who served with the police for eight years, died on Sunday due to health reasons and his condition is not yet known.

Temple University police officials posted information about the dog’s death on social media.

In an online statement, officials said Chandler worked with his handler, Officer Natalie Sherman, “every day” and was “a brave and selfless dog who dedicated much of his life to community service and social work.”

Officials also said an official memorial service for Chandler will be announced later this week.
