Accident in Newbury, VT, Daniel Sweet killed – NECN

A 22-year-old died in an accident in Newbury, Vermont early Sunday morning.

According to Vermont State Police, officers responded to the single-vehicle crash at approximately 5:37 a.m. on Wallace Hill Road and found a totaled Jeep Wrangler near Stark Trail.

The driver, identified as Daniel Sweet of Newbury, suffered fatal injuries in the crash, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Sweet was traveling north on Wallace Hill Road when his Jeep left the roadway and overturned just after the intersection with Stark Trail. Sweet, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle, according to police.

It is unclear why Sweet’s Jeep went off the road.

Following the accident, Wallace Hill Road was closed in the area and motorists were asked to seek alternative routes.
