Jazz music fills the air in Buffalo

The Queen City Jazz Festival attracted both musicians and music lovers.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Music fans got a chance to enjoy some jazz at an annual event Saturday.

Camille Thurman and the Darrell Green Quartet were among the performers who filled Lafayette Square with the sweet sound of jazz Saturday afternoon for the Queen City Jazz Festival.

The Colored Musicians Club and the Jazz Museum sponsored the event, and organizers say the festival continues to grow every year.

“In the beginning, it was all local bands,” said Georege Scott, the event’s coordinator. “But over time, we’ve been able to attract more and more national acts, and the names are getting bigger and bigger each year. And the audiences are getting bigger and bigger each year. So this is an event that I think will be recognized nationally.”

Claudine Ewing and Alissa Clausell of On Your Side were the presenters for this year’s event.
