300 Backpacks Donated to Buffalo Students in Memory of Dr. Jonathan Daniels

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The third annual Jonathan D. Daniels, MD Memorial School Drive was a success, giving students from underserved communities the tools they need to succeed.

This gift was the dream of Dr. Daniels, who died in a house fire on July 4, 2022.

“He’s a huge supporter of the community and he wanted to do whatever he could for his community,” said Donna Ball, who worked with Dr. Daniels at the Jacobs School of Medicine.

The surgery took place in the parking lot of Care Medical Practice on Jefferson Ave, the same neighborhood where Dr. Daniels ran a pediatric practice.

His adult daughters, Jordan and Jensen, also died in the fire at their North Buffalo home.

“He was a wonderful, kind, caring man who would give anything to help you through whatever you were going through,” Ball said.

Before his death, he was working with his admissions team to organize a school supply drive.

His colleagues continue to run it to carry on his legacy, donating 300 backpacks to students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
