Orlando man struck and killed in hit-and-run; Florida troopers search for vehicle

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida troopers are searching for a vehicle after a 28-year-old Orlando man was killed in a hit-and-run crash late Thursday in Orange County, authorities said.

The fatal accident occurred on Curry Ford Road near Colton Drive around 11:30 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said what appeared to be a white car was traveling east on Curry Ford Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, entered the grass median and struck the Orlando man, who was heading west.

According to police, the car fled the scene, turned right onto Goldenrod Road and drove into the parking lot of a Walgreens. The driver parked the car, checked the damage to the vehicle and drove off, the FHP said.

The Orlando man was taken to AdventHealth East Orlando and pronounced dead, an FHP accident report states.

Police said the car likely had damage to the right side mirror, a broken right headlight and a damaged windshield.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call FHP at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
