Couple arrested for armed robbery in Duson | Crime

DUSON, Louisiana (KADN) – Duson police have arrested two armed robbery suspects.

The victims were robbed at gunpoint in the 400 block of Toby Mouton Road in Duson. Police said the robbers stole $3,000 in cash, a collection of power tools and cell phones from two workers who had just received their pay.

The two suspects are behind bars at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. Luis Ramirez and Christopher Basaldva are both charged with armed robbery.

Duson Police Chief Kip Judice said more arrests were expected.

“It appears that there are other people involved in this investigation, so we are continuing our case and hope to make some arrests soon,” said the presiding judge. “Nobody was injured. One shot was fired. The suspects walked away, one of the victims attempted to give chase on foot, and during this chase the perpetrator fired a shot at the victim. No one was injured, and no one was hit.”

The chief of investigators added that they had seized much of the property stolen at gunpoint.
