A British girl was allegedly raped in a bar while on holiday with her parents after going to the toilet.

The unnamed victim, 16, was on holiday on the Greek island of Crete when the horror attack occurred on Wednesday. According to local reports, the family was at a bar in Malia when the student left her mother and father to go to the toilet shortly before her ordeal began.

The girl and her mother later visited a local police station to report the heinous crime. Police on the holiday island reviewed video surveillance and believe they have identified her attacker as a 28-year-old man from Pakistan. A manhunt was launched to bring him to justice. The Mirror has asked the Foreign Office for comment.

Earlier this year, a British woman described how she was repeatedly raped by five men while on holiday in Cyprus after being “forcibly dragged” into a hotel room in the party resort of Ayia Napa. The tourist, who was 20 at the time of the alleged attack, was escorted to the Famagusta Criminal Court under police protection in February as she prepared to testify behind closed doors.

It was the first time the Briton had come face to face with the men since the suspects were identified in a police line-up last September. A police officer said: “She is incredibly brave. She walked in with her head held high.”
