Brazilian rock singer Ayres Sasaki was electrocuted during a live performance in Brazil last week

The musician died instantly after he allegedly hugged a soaking wet fan during a concert on July 13 at the Solar Hotel in Salinopolis. The contact allegedly triggered a jolt in a nearby cable, causing a fatal electric shock, according to The mirror.

The Salinópolis police are investigating the incident. The Civil Police of Pará say that witnesses have given statements and they have requested expert opinions. Istoé Gente reports.

The Solar Hotel released a statement on social media about the tragic incident.

“We are fully committed to providing support to his family and taking the necessary measures. We reiterate our commitment to fully cooperate with the relevant authorities to properly clarify the events,” the hotel wrote in a translated message on Instagram. “Our thoughts and condolences are with Ayres Sasaki’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

Sasaki leaves behind his wife Mariana, with whom he was married for eleven months.

In her Instagram story, Sasaki’s wife thanked her fans.

“I want to thank you for every message of affection and comfort, for every prayer in this difficult time we are going through,” Mariana wrote via Istoé Gente“I haven’t been able to read all the messages yet, but when I’m better I’ll reply to each one. Thank you.”
