Minors gang raped in moving car; two arrested, main accused on the run | News from India

BHOPAL: A Class 9 girl was raped in a moving car near Gwalior by three students after she fell into a trap laid for her by a friend on social media, police said on Friday. Two of the youths have been arrested but the main accused is on the run.

The girl had met the main accused, an 18-year-old, through Instagram in April. He introduced her to one of his friends and invited her for a ride in his car. The girl arrived and was surprised to find a third youth in the car. She got into the vehicle and they drove onto the highway where they committed the crime, police said.

The trio made videos of the rape and threatened to send them to her parents, police said. When she refused to comply, they forwarded the clip to her family, who went to the police.

An FIR was filed against the three under the Pocso Act and the car in which the minor was raped and the phones used to record the crime were seized.
