When did the SDA church suspend the preachers?

In a statement released on Thursday, July 4, the church banned pastors from delivering sermons in their local branches.

The banned preachers included Pastor Elizabeth Mokoro, Kenneth Maina, Evangelist Shaban Ndege, Evangelist Millicent Odhiambo and Evangelist Lantena.

The directive from Executive Secretary Pastor Eliab Ombuoro mentioned compliance with a decision of the East Kenya Union Conference (EKUC), but did not state the reasons for the suspensions.

However, the church issued a statement lifting the ban on the preachers. The letter, signed by Pastor Ombuoro, urged those who had seen the suspension letter of the five preachers to ignore it.

“With regard to the letter dated 4 July on the above-mentioned subject (ACTION 24EXCOM-055), we would like to state that the letter is hereby withdrawn until further notice.”
