According to AlertSU, sexual assaults have been reported on campus

Content warning: This article contains references to sexual assault.

According to a report from Stanford University’s Department of Public Safety (SUDPS), a sexual assault was reported in a student dormitory on Tuesday evening.

The victim, a woman, told a mandatory reporter that she was sexually assaulted by a male offender between 1:00 and 2:00 a.m. Sunday in a student residence hall in the 700 block of Campus Drive. The incident occurred after they had “drinking alcohol together earlier in the evening,” according to AlertSU. Additional details about the alleged offender’s age, height, weight, race, ethnicity and clothing were not provided to SUDPS.

The Daily has reached out to SUDPS for comment.

According to the alert, the university “does not tolerate” sexual assault, misconduct or harassment and encourages victims to report incidents. Consent from both parties must be obtained before sexual activity; alcohol or drugs that can incapacitate one or both parties are not an excuse for assault, the alert states.

The alert urged anyone with further details about the crime to contact SUDPS.

Resources for victims are available through the Office of the Provost for Institutional Equity, Access, and Community and the SHARE Title IX Office.
