Officer injured in emergency call after collision with patrol car: Police

According to police, the driver of the vehicle that collided with the patrol car was uninjured and was held responsible for the accident.

WATERBURY, Connecticut — An officer was injured in Waterbury on Sunday when a patrol car en route to an emergency call was struck by a car, the city’s police department said.

Based on preliminary information, Waterbury Police have determined that the patrol car was struck at 1:18 p.m. in the area of ​​1521 South Main Street while responding to a 911 call.

The officer in the patrol car and the passenger of the vehicle that struck the patrol car were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the vehicle that collided with the patrol car, identified as Abumael Soto, 41, of Waterbury, was not injured and was blamed for the accident, police said.

Soto is accused of failing to yield the right of way when turning left and driving without a license.
