Video recording released after woman in Hyde was victim of ‘serious sexual assault’

After reports emerged that a woman in Hyde had been the victim of a sexual assault, CCTV footage was released.

A full investigation is currently underway into what Greater Manchester Police are calling a “serious sexual assault”. The woman was reportedly attacked at around 6.40am on Friday morning as she walked past Grafton Street, just off Clark Way.



Greater Manchester Police have released images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, as officers believe he could assist them with their investigation.

Officers are keen to identify anyone who was in the area at around 6.30am – including the area around Clark Way, Grafton Street, King Street, the footbridge and the nearby bus stop. In-depth CCTV and witness interviews are continuing to be carried out to establish what happened and bring those responsible to justice.

Detective Inspector Andrew Day said: “We take reports of sexual offences very seriously and have carried out extensive and thorough investigations since the report was made to us. The woman continues to be supported by specially trained officers.”

“It is completely unacceptable to attack someone in this way and we are working tirelessly to find anyone who recognises the man pictured. If you recognise him, or were in the area yesterday morning at the time of the incident and saw anyone wearing the same clothing, please come forward. We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything – it is not too late to come forward.
