Dominican murder suspect arrested by immigration officials in Massachusetts – Boston 25 News

BOSTON – A man wanted for murder in the Dominican Republic faces deportation after his arrest by federal immigration authorities here in Massachusetts.

Officials from Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston “arrested the Dominican noncitizen on June 11, 2024, at the Essex County House of Correction and served him with a summons to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge,” the ERO in Boston said in a statement.

The 23-year-old man was convicted of recklessly endangering a child in Methuen in January of this year. He was sentenced to six months in prison and twelve months probation.

“This Dominican citizen fled his homeland to avoid Dominican law before making his way to Massachusetts,” said Todd M. Lyons, director of ERO’s Boston field office. “When he arrived here, he proved to be a threat to the children of our communities. We cannot allow our New England communities to become safe havens for criminals from around the world.”

Federal officials said the man legally entered the United States on a nonimmigrant visa on August 24, 2018, and then violated the terms of his entry.

According to federal authorities, Dominican authorities issued an arrest warrant for him on April 24, 2019, for murder.

He is currently in custody awaiting the completion of his deportation proceedings.

“ERO Boston will continue to arrest and remove the worst non-citizen offenders from our neighborhoods,” Lyons said.
