A 19-year-old British tourist was raped during a night-time excursion in Lisbon, according to a police report.

The teenager told authorities she was attacked by an employee in a back room of the K Urban Beach nightclub, a riverside venue near the center of the Portuguese capital.

Her friends alerted the police shortly before 5 a.m. on Thursday morning.

The young woman was taken to hospital for treatment by a specialist.

The club’s manager, Paulo Damaso, told local media: “We have already launched an internal investigation and as part of this investigation the employee in question will be questioned.”

“He claims that the sexual relationship with the plaintiff was consensual.”

“Whether that is the case or not, we deny that such incidents have occurred in our facilities.”

Police confirmed that they were “investigating a suspected case of rape” in which the victim “is a 19-year-old British woman who was apparently on holiday in Portugal”.

The club features a dance area with a swimming pool, as well as a rooftop bar and an exclusive area where guests can reserve tables.

Online it describes itself as “Lisbon’s hottest nightclub where the party never stops.”

Revellers are encouraged to “prepare for a night of energetic beats and epic DJ sets that will have you dancing all night long.”
