Marlon Wayans calls for peace after Rick Ross incident

Marlon Wayans calls for peace after fans in Canada got into a brawl after Rick Ross walked off the stage to Kendrick Lamar’s diss track to Drake, “Not Like Us.”

After a video of the incident went viral, Marlon Wayans warned on Instagram that history could repeat itself. He mentioned that he had seen violence perish against his friends The Notorious BIG and Tupac Shakur, both of whom were killed in drive-by shootings.

“Dear Hip Hop. It’s all fun and games until people start getting hurt. Remember HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF,” he wrote. “I knew Tupac, I knew Biggie. I partied with them, hung out with them, saw them both 20 minutes before they got shot. Violence is real. Anyone can be touched. Don’t mess with the devil. I love @champagnepapi, love @richforever, love @kendricklamar, love @losangelesconfidentinal (The Game) and I tell all my brothers there’s enough food for everyone.”

He continued, “Y’all need to do what @realcolworld did. With peace, with love, with positivity. Life is short… even shorter when you spend your energy tearing each other down instead of building each other up. I hate to see any of our kings at war. There are too few of us. STOP! And I say this with love. Always OG MW.”

Wayans is not the only person to speak out about the civil wars in hip hop. Rapper Childish Gambino also spoke out against the rap dispute between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, saying that it is no longer fun.

“I feel like people just don’t have enough fun (…) When I was a kid, there were big things that united us, and I just feel sorry for you guys. This generation just doesn’t get it – so you get bad stuff. Anything that everyone can get involved in usually sucks,” he said on TikTok Live. “This year, too, the most fun we had was in an argument. A song in an argument, in a rap beef. And I enjoyed every minute of it. It was a lot of fun. But still kind of negative in some ways, I think.”

Rick Ross appeared fine and unfazed after the incident, writing in his Instagram story: “Vancouver, it was fun, see you next time.”
