Mosque teacher arrested for raping a minor in Larkana

LARKANA:

Police in Larkana on Thursday arrested a mosque teacher who was allegedly involved in the rape of a nine-year-old student.

The minor’s father, Baghan Chandio, said his son, along with other children, regularly visited the Khalid Bin Waleed Mosque in Larkana town near his residence.

According to the FIR, the mosque teacher was caught red-handed by a family member from Baghan. The victim’s father added that the cleric also belonged to the Chandio tribe and was caught sexually assaulting the minor when his brother and a cousin arrived at the mosque to offer afternoon prayers.

“He (the teacher) managed to escape,” Baghan said.

Speak with The Express TribuneThe father said his son, who was in third grade at a primary school, was emotionally traumatized after the incident.

The father further explained that the defendant’s family members tried to dissuade his family from filing a lawsuit against him and suggested that they resolve the dispute among themselves.

“We are under pressure, but we will not spare the man who ruined my son’s life,” the victim’s father said, crying.

The video of the incident went viral on social media, netizens condemned the incident and demanded the authorities to take strict action against the accused.

In early April, the suspect was arrested for raping a minor boy while watching Itikaf in Muzaffargarh.

The 13-year-old boy was watching the Itikaf movement when another person, who was also following the Itikaf movement, allegedly raped him. The suspect reportedly managed to escape after the incident and the mosque iman claimed that he was threatened with dire consequences.

A medical examination was then carried out on the survivor, with local police assuring that the suspect would be arrested soon.
