HOUSTON (KIAH) – Teachers put extra effort into their jobs, but don’t always get recognized for it. During the week of May 6-10, educators across the country are celebrated for teaching young people the tools needed to succeed. Take the time to thank your favorite teacher for their support today.

For all teachers, enjoy the week with free or discounted activities for you and your class. Below are some freebies for you to enjoy.

  • Free McDonald’s breakfast (sandwich and average coffee)
  • Whataburger – Free Taquito, Breakfast on a Bun or Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit with Proof of ID
  • Buffalo Wild Wings – Teachers and staff receive 20% off all orders with valid ID
  • Insomnia Cookies – Free Classic Cookie with in-store proof of ID
  • Staples – Free Supply Kits & 20% Off In-Store Purchases With Proof of ID

Raising Cane’s and Whataburger go even further. Canes will offer 10 teachers the ultimate summer getaway of their choice. Registrations close on May 10. Whataburger will also award 63 educators $1,000 grants for their schools. The grants are part of the chain’s Feeding Student Success program, which helps reduce food insecurity in schools in low-income areas.

If you want to honor an amazing educator in your or your child’s life, send them flowers or handwritten cards from their students. You can also share their story with the National Education Association or post a photo of them on social media with the hashtag #ThanksToProfessor.
