John Gelinne | Director of Global Cyber ​​Incident Preparedness, Response and Recovery (CIR3)

John joined Deloitte after retiring from the U.S. Navy in 2014. He has held commands at various levels, including USS Hurricane (PC3), USS Kauffman (FFG59), and Commodore Destroyer Squadron Twenty Two. He served on the Joint Staff, Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), where he was responsible for the continuity of the National Military Command Center’s information technology operations prior to and during the September 11 attacks on the Pentagon. John’s most recent Navy role was Chief of Staff, Fleet Cyber ​​Command/10th Fleet, where he was third in command of the Navy’s cyber operations.

John was published in US Naval Institute Procedure, Deloitte report, dark reading, and that The Wall Street Journal CIO and CFO journals on topics ranging from building resilience to quantifying cyber risk. He is the co-author of “Beneath the surface of a cyberattack,” a Deloitte US study that describes the hidden costs associated with a cyberattack. John is also the co-author of an update to that original study, “Beneath the surface of a cyberattack: Collision avoidance,” in which he describes the business application of cyber risk quantification to mitigating cyber risk.
