Stockton man and woman arrested in connection with infant’s death

STOCKTON, Calif. — Two 23-year-old adults were arrested after their month-old child died early Wednesday morning, according to Stockton police.

Police said officers were called to a Stockton hospital by medical personnel around 2:21 a.m. for a child death. Officers said the one-month-old child had “multiple injuries consistent with abuse.”

The child’s parents, 23-year-old Robert Meyer Sr. and 23-year-old Sareya Sexton, were questioned by detectives at their home and eventually arrested on suspicion of murder and child abuse.

Both Meyer and Sexton were taken to the San Joaquin County Jail. The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
