Police in Melbourne have shot a person who had a gun in his vehicle after he allegedly tried to enter the city’s airport through a security gate.

The person was taken to hospital, police said.

It happened around 9 o’clock when the person tried to get through a secured gate and said they wanted to board a plane.

No officers were injured.

Airport operations are running normally.
