13 dead in accident in Haveri district of Karnataka

Thirteen people, including two children, were killed in a horrific accident in Haveri district of Karnataka when a minibus crashed into the rear of a stationary truck on the Pune-Bengaluru national highway in the early hours of Friday, June 28, 2024.

The tragic accident occurred around 4 am on Friday near Gundenahalli Cross in Byadgi taluk of Haveri district.

According to preliminary information, the deceased hailed from Emmihatti village in Bhadravati taluk of Shivamogga district. They had returned from visiting temples in Belagavi district.

Due to the force of the impact, the bodies became stuck in the destroyed remains of the minibus and the fire brigade and police had great difficulty freeing the bodies.

Four people who suffered serious injuries in the accident were taken to hospital.
