Three-car accident in Champaign leaves one injured

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – One person was injured in a three-car crash in Champaign on Wednesday.

According to Champaign Police Department Joe Lamberson, it happened around 11:50 a.m. near West Springfield Avenue and South Fair Street. A car attempted to turn across the street into a business parking lot, but struck another vehicle that was leaving the street. The second car struck a pile of mulch and then came to rest next to a third vehicle that was parked in the parking lot.

One person suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital out of an abundance of caution, police said. Springfield Avenue was temporarily closed while debris was recovered from the scene.
