Lancaster County girl dies from injuries in farm accident

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pennsylvania – A Lancaster County girl died Tuesday as a result of an accident on a farm, the county coroner said Wednesday.

The 9-year-old victim, an Amish woman, was pronounced dead at a local hospital by the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office at about 11:49 a.m. Tuesday. She had been taken there after suffering a farming accident at her home in Salisbury Township, the coroner’s office said.

Authorities said the girl died from multiple serious injuries after becoming entangled in the reins of her horse, which became frightened and bolted during a training session at the farm in the 100 block of Snake Lane in Kinzers.

The coroner concluded that it was an accident. An autopsy will not be performed.
