Man sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a minor (8)

A 21-year-old man from Ruwa has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after raping an eight-year-old child.

Blessing Chatambudza was convicted at the end of the state trial by Harare District Judge Lois Mukunyadze.

Prosecutor Vimbiso Rundare cited evidence from the complainant’s mother and sister.

According to the circumstances, the minor was left in the care of her sister sometime in 2023. The convict sent the sister shopping and raped the eight-year-old in her absence.

In an unrelated case, Kudakwashe Chivhunga (22) was sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping a 38-year-old mentally ill woman.

The matter appeared before Harare District Judge Lois Mukunyadze.

The complainant’s sister testified in court that the complainant made her aware of the sexual assault while she was sleeping on August 27.

It is alleged that Chivhunga visited the complainant’s house, found her alone and allegedly took the complainant to her room where he played pornographic material before raping her.
