14-year-old boy killed in ATV accident in West Feliciana Parish

WEST FELICIANA PARISH, Louisiana (BRPROUD) – A 14-year-old was killed in an accident involving an all-terrain vehicle Saturday afternoon.

According to West Feliciana Parish Sheriff Brian Spillman, a 14-year-old St. Francisville boy was riding an ATV on private property in the Cheerful Valley area on Saturday. The 14-year-old drove into a ditch hidden behind tall grass.

“Apparently the juvenile did not see the ditch and was thrown from the SUV upon impact,” said Sheriff Spillman.

Upon arrival, rescuers were met by family, who performed CPR on the 14-year-old before taking over further operations and continuing to do so until they reached a local hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Despite their best efforts, they were unable to save the young man,” Spillman said.

The identity of the 14-year-old was not disclosed.
